Le chapeau d'Irène
using
AM290
XXLge Gecko
AM293 XLge - Floral Hat
Moulds were cast with a mix of gold and silver Sculpey III and highlighted with
Pearl Ex. Also used postcard (from our local Fish'n'chips shop), stamps by About
Art Accents, and Verdigris embossing powder. One of the geckos was squished a
bit more than the mould, to make it look slightly different to the other.
The text on the side says: "He went back, years later. Her hat was still
hanging on that same hook." This is about my grandmother, she died before I was born.
When she passed away, my grandfather sold their little "summer cottage" where my
father and his siblings used to go, they have retold many memories from that
place (though it's a postcard from NZ that I used).
My grandmother had a hat, she used to always put it on the same hook.
My grandfather not only sold the cottage, but left everything behind.
Years later my father went back to see if the cottage was still there, and he
saw, through the window, his
mother's hat still on that same "spot" where he'd remembered seeing it.
The man who bought the cottage strangely hadn't changed much inside. That postcard reminded me of that
story... that's how this page came about.
