SOYSILK® Fusion fibres were placed into the mould, in which I then poured some
Textile Medium (Plaid), I filled the mould with more fibres, until it was full
and fairly saturated with the medium. I let it dry in themould. When I unmoulded
it I rubbed on some Yellow Pearl Ex. The background was made with Marvy Metallic
markers.

Cast the moulds with a blend of Sculpey III polymer clay and cured according to
package directions. I liked the look and the colour of these a lot so I didn't
add any Pearl Ex or varnish.

SOYSILK® (Conjoined Creations)
Cast with a blend of Sculpey III polymer clay and cured according to package
directions. One of the clays used in this mix was a Pearl colour, so there's
natural shimmer in the finished casts, no varnish or Pearl Ex were used.

The background for this was made by a technique I found in a book by Bernie
Berlin called "Artist Trading Card Workshop". Bernie uses different fibres, I
used my SOYSILK® Fusion fibres. The technique consists in using fusible interfacing
(I used Vliesoflex), arranging your fibres, and extra strips of Vliesoflex, and
more fibres, then adding glitter and embossing powders (I used regular EP and
some Opals too) and then ironing it all so it fuses together. I like the fact
that not all fibres are fused, and to me it gives the appearance of felt, or
short haired fur. |
